Lightning at Sand City

I went to Sand City – Hobart’s Beach Park to attempt some sunset shots. I arrived a little too late to the beach and missed anything I would consider decent as far as coloring in the horizon and cloud cover. Sometimes it just isn’t in the cards. I did manage to watch an awesome lightning storm in the Long Island Sound between Connecticut and Long Island and took about 1,000 photos trying to catch lightning in a...

Center Island Beach

This was a nice pit stop on our days activities in Bayville and Oyster Bay. The waterways were packed with partyers and the smell of barbecue permeated the air. It is really one of the awesome places on Long Island. The water to the north and south combined with the lush green woods make this place such a treat to visit. I’d recommend it for a stop after you go to Adventure Park (mini golf, adventure), which is just down the road...

Joanne’s Gourmet Pizza

Joanne’s Gourmet Pizza is located in the heart of downtown Huntington. I’ve seen it many times as I go to one of my favorite restaurants, Sri Thai, which is across the street. I took the family there today to see if there was anything to make this place stand out among the hordes of pizza parlors that are scattered about Long Island. We weren’t very daring, as Aliya is young and scared of new colors and shapes on her...

Asharoken Beach

Asharoken is a favorite haunt of mine because it is close to home. I remember many nights when I had disposable time, going down with my friends to the beach to watch the sunset and hang out. It offers some great views and some excellent sunsets. My biggest problem with the sunsets are that the sand flies always come out when I want to take some photos. I smartened up though and now carry bug spray in my car. You should too. This is...

Adventure Park

Traveling around and taking the time to learn about place son Long Island has some nice advantages. One thing is that we usually get to learn about more than just our intended destination. Adventureland Park in Bayville is exactly what I mean by this. We took some time to investigate the place but we didn’t partake in any of the activities. The place was a bit small but there are many things to do while there. You can partake in...

Charles E. Ransom Beach

The Charles E. Ransom Beach and playground is located in Bayville Road just as it sweeps to the East running parallel to the Long Island Sound. The main reason to come here is to get wet and enjoy some fun in the sun. The playground might be a nice choice for kids later on in the day but during a hot day you could fry an egg on it. I saw some people fishing on the rocks to the East side of the park for those of you that might want to...
