Joanne’s Gourmet Pizza is located in the heart of downtown Huntington. I’ve seen it many times as I go to one of my favorite restaurants, Sri Thai, which is across the street. I took the family there today to see if there was anything to make this place stand out among the hordes of pizza parlors that are scattered about Long Island. We weren’t very daring, as Aliya is young and scared of new colors and shapes on her food. We ordered a large plain pizza and an order of mozzarella sticks.

The pizza was a standard pie and nothing remarkable in flavor or price ($12.95). I was expecting something more from a self proclaimed gourmet restaurant but alas it was very standard. The mozzarella sticks were standard too, and for $3.25 a decent deal. I am still tempted to go back and order something that would be considered gourmet to give them the opportunity to prove themselves. I’m not 100% against returning here but I am not sure I will ever make it back with my favorite Huntington restaurant right across the street.
