We’ve been enjoying ourselves this summer, and this trip fishing at Captree State Park was no exception. We went on the 4PM – 8PM fluke fishing boat and managed to catch some nice fish. The bad part of it was none of the fluke measured greater than 20 inches so we had to throw them all back. Luckily Eddie managed to get a passing cocktail blue fish so we had something to bring home besides a few crabs that were caught in the process of stealing our bait. Eddie also managed to snare something huge, big enough to break the 30 pound test fishing line. There is always one that gets away.
The Captree Fishing Fleet is a bunch of party boats that set up at the docks at Captree State Park. There are boats coming and going almost every hour, and they change between going for fluke, bluefish, sea bass, and whatever else is in season. We ended up on the Gillen II. The staff were friendly, although noone caught any keepers. The cost was $40 each for the 4 hour tour.
