This is the beginning of our recent trip to New Hampshire. We decided to take the Orient Point Ferry to New London so we could save some time driving north from Long Island. It was nice driving through the countryside of eastern and northern Long Island. We hope to visit some of the many wineries out there soon. It was all of our first visit to “the other” tip/end of Long Island.
Our trip started out normally. We left our house about 6 AM planning on taking the 8AM Orient Point Ferry. The day before we booked our ticket online, or at least thought we had booked our ticket online. When we arrived we found out there was no ticket. It was a full load on the boat too. Luckily, there were several no shows so we ended up being the second to last vehicle allowed on board. That would have been a terrible start to the trip and we averted disaster narrowly. If you book online make sure the process is complete. It may cost you a lot of time spent waiting for the next ferry(ies).
