We decided to make a day trip to nearby Port Jefferson, NY. We started the day by eating Thai Food at the Lemonleaf restaurant.

This place has some delicious food. We ordered the Tom Yum Goong (sweet and sour shrimp soup) and it was our favorite so far on Long Island. We also ordered my favorite dish in the world, Panang Gai (A red-coconut chicken curry), a chicken fried rice, and a shrimp-bamboo chute-garlic dish. All of the dishes were fantastic and the fried rice was superb. I much prefer Thai fried rice to Chinese fried rice. We talked to the waitress there and found out she was from China so we practiced some Chinese with here. On a side note, I find it weird that so many Thai restaurants here have Chinese employees.
We started the day taking Aliya to the large playground on one of the back roads in near the town center. It was a serious pain to find parking. There were some lots that wanted $20 for all day parking. The majority of the parking is metered, and the town doesn’t miss any opportunities to extract cash from you.
After the playground, we went for a leisurely stroll about town toward the Port Jefferson Ferry Terminal. The sidewalks were packed and the RUB’s (Rich Urban Bikers) were out in full force. There were some beautiful bikes on display along Main Street.
We walked down to the docks and say the ferry pull in and unload and load passengers. We got a nice view form the end of the pier of the Port Jefferson Power Stacks. Upon walking back to the car, we stopped at a utility store that served coffee, ice cream, candy and an assortment of other products. I believe it is called the Frigate. I got a Mocha Frigachino and it was great. It cost a cool $5 but was worth every cent.
We had an enjoyable day in Port Jeff and I really enjoyed using my new Nikon D90 to take pictures of the area.
