Saturday was an especially nice August day. It was uncharacteristically cool and not humid. Rumor has it though that Monday will see a return to the hot and humid weather that defines summers on Long Island. We started the day at the house, searching for nice butterflies and other bugs or critters that don’t mind having their photos taken. We weren’t terribly lucky on that front, but we got some pictures. Isabella the...

This was a nice pit stop on our days activities in Bayville and Oyster Bay. The waterways were packed with partyers and the smell of barbecue permeated the air. It is really one of the awesome places on Long Island. The water to the north and south combined with the lush green woods make this place such a treat to visit. I’d recommend it for a stop after you go to Adventure Park (mini golf, adventure), which is just down the road...

Asharoken is a favorite haunt of mine because it is close to home. I remember many nights when I had disposable time, going down with my friends to the beach to watch the sunset and hang out. It offers some great views and some excellent sunsets. My biggest problem with the sunsets are that the sand flies always come out when I want to take some photos. I smartened up though and now carry bug spray in my car. You should too. This is...

The Charles E. Ransom Beach and playground is located in Bayville Road just as it sweeps to the East running parallel to the Long Island Sound. The main reason to come here is to get wet and enjoy some fun in the sun. The playground might be a nice choice for kids later on in the day but during a hot day you could fry an egg on it. I saw some people fishing on the rocks to the East side of the park for those of you that might want to...

Fleet’s Cove beach is a small beach located in Centerport, NY. It is one of many little beaches that are scattered along Long Island’s North Coast. You can see the tips of the LIPA Stacks in the distance and also a nice view of Northport Bay. The playground here wasn’t that great and the sand, as usual on LI, is a bit rocky. All in all not a bad place if you are in the area but I don’t see any reason for anyone...
